@settee @manton You can get an (almost) global hotkey working by setting up a Shortcut like this:

Shortcut with only one action to open the URL microblog://post?text=. The Shortcut is set to run with Shift-Command-P and also has a speech bubble icon in the macOS menu bar.

This lets me start a new post from (almost) anywhere by pressing Shift-Command-P or clicking the little speech bubble in the menu bar.
