@amit Ahh, I predict Amit’s Long-Form Markdown Micro.blog Web Client in a not too distant future. 😊

@jean Happiest photo of the day is no small feat. 😊 Thanks, Jean! And thanks for spreading the alt text gospel.

@pratik Yeah, I know, a bit of a hasty decision, but we both feel confident it was the right thing to do. 😉

@the I haven’t made any actual calculations yet, but it’s definitely there in the back of my head, along with solar cells and other solutions. Someday I hope to be less dependent on the electricity market and its ups and downs.

@odd @eli Wow! A whole thread dedicated to alt texts. 😍 You’re all heroes making the web more accessible one image description at a time. Thank you!

@the It’s fully dynamic. I pay whatever the current spot price on the European power market. That said, patterns evolve based on supply and demand. Electricity is cheaper at night and on weekends, for example. And windy days are usually good days.

@jamescousins The Shortcut handles the upload as well. In my case, that means committing the file to a git repository (via GitHub’s API).

That’s super easy to do with the weirdly named action called Get contents of URL (that also can make POST and PUT requests, despite its name).

But depending on how you host your blog, you might have to do something completely different.

@jack I hear you! I love static site generators like Hugo and Jekyll, but using them without a Headless CMS can be painfully slow and cumbersome.

I’ve successfully used Netlify CMS and Forestry with customers’ websites and my own hobby projects.

I also use Shortcuts for my blog. “Hey, Siri, new post” gives me this:

A text field with the title New Post – What’s the text? – and two buttons, Cancel and Done.

Then, I just write what’s on my mind and hit Done.

Setting up a headless CMS or creating a Shortcut is a bit of work, though, and not for everyone.

@vincent This is definitely not my area of expertise, but are you sure you need to charge VAT when there’s no exchange of neither goods nor services? It’s a donation. I freely give my internet friend some monies and expect nothing in return. 😊

@vincent Maybe it’s just me? But I checked a few other Stripe Payment Links, and Apple Pay showed up on them. Paying with a card worked fine, though. 😊

@vincent Nice! To make it even easier to give you money, you could consider activating Apple Pay at that checkout.

@Mandalorian Welcome to Sweden! I hope you will have a good time here. Right now, I’m a bit further up the country, but around this time next week, I will be where you are now. We are taking a road trip down the country.

@toddgrotenhuis Oh, thank you, I’m feeling great. It’s just that I’ve accumulated stuff on my to-sell heap for a while now. 😅

The reMarkable is not for sale, sorry. I wanted a photo that looked yard sale-ish and just grabbed stuff close by. 🤪 The reMarkable is lovely, and I use it for devouring technical books, manga/comics, and most long reads like blog posts and articles.

@pratik Okay, hopefully, someone will get around and help you out there. If not, I can always fit short development jobs like that into my schedule if you need it bad enough to pay for a solution. You know where to find me. 😊

@jemostrom Oj, det var en inkorg som hette duga. 😅 Jag är också tillbaka efter semestern men med en brevhög som inte är alls lika imponerande. Hoppas din dag flutit på okej.

@jasonekratz Hehe, is that a thing? No, it’s just a boring old door repurposed into our kitchen table. This photo reveals more of it:

A smiling woman sitting at a kitchen table, working on a laptop.

@AndyNicolaides Unfortunately, the iframe Player API can only embed a single video, a playlist, or a user’s uploaded videos according to the documentation.

You could show your user’s uploaded videos by doing this:

> <iframe src=“https://www.youtube.com/embed?listType=user_uploads&list=andynico84” width=“480” height=“400”></iframe>

Or you could embed a specific playlist like so:

> <iframe src=“https://www.youtube.com/embed?listType=playlist&list=PLRybRoahmBd4NEmRBtiuTPTo7TJUehFH2” width=“480” height=“400”></iframe>

@jasraj Let me know when/if you get around to it. I would love to see more tiny libraries out there.

@ezellwrites Yeah, definitely feels like a moment. Dive in if you’ve got the time. Robin is hosting his client over at followersentinel.com, so it’s easier than ever to get started.

Send me a link when your board it’s up. 😉

@AoW It’s a nice little ecosystem you’ve created for the show. I’m glad it worked out with the RSS feed, and thanks for checking out my plug-in. 🥰
