@jarrod 🥰
@kottkrig Mumma! 😍
@gustav 😅
@manton Yay! 🙌
@g Detta inlägg gjorde mig glad. Underbart! Fira ordentligt. 🎉
Ted Chiangs What’s expected of us och Andy Weirs The Egg är två av mina favoriter.
@glass 🥰
@manton My favorite recipe blog is Rek’s and Devine’s Grimgrains. Just look at all those adorable ingredient illustrations! 🥰
@jonah I do follow a few Substack writers through my feed reader, but I haven’t really used the service for discovery. I’ll have to give it a try.
I agree with Maggie that this is an issue for a lot of people, but personally, I’ve worked around it by following a variety of interesting people, newsletters, and linkblogs. I also keep an eye on sites like are.na and lobste.rs, where stuff I care about tends to bubble up. It does take more effort compared to just having everything handed to you by an engagement algorithm, though.
@devilgate Yeah, I’m with you. It’s also weird that he ends the post with, and I’m paraphrasing here, see you at my new blog hosted on Substack. 😊 (As they put it themselves, Substack is just “[a] blog – but with email.”)
@odd AirDrop creates ad-hoc peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connections between devices, so you’re not dependent on a router. Bluetooth is used to set up the temporary Wi-Fi connection, but it’s not possible to actually AirDrop over Bluetooth, to my knowledge.
@pimoore Congrats! 🎉
@miguelmanalo I used Kindle devices for more than a decade, but switched to Kobo a while back and am happy with it. Their Libra and Sage models have physical page-turn buttons.
@Jeena Grattis! 🎉
@sopsack Hittade du gocart-läget? 😊
@odd No, actually, I took that photo more or less in your backyard 😊 – Fulufjället, close to the Norwegian border where it turns into Fulufjellet. About the cliff… Yeah, I think so too, but I didn’t dare leave the trail, just to be safe.
@dave Well blogged! 🎉 I look forward to the next 30 years.
@heyloura This is lovely! 👻
@odd This is cool! Thanks for sharing. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m noticing a subtle trend in my parts of the www, bringing handwriting and analog elements into design. For example, handwritten.blog and the redesign of dynamicland.org.
@estebantxo 🎉
@Miraz Oh, no. 🤢 I haven’t seen anything like that here yet, but I’m sure it will happen any day now.
@alienlebarge Oh, yes, GLHF! ✨
@Denny Well done! Caring for and repairing our things can be so rewarding. This summer, I managed to fix a broken robotic lawn mower using a salvaged wheel motor from another bot carcass. It felt amazing to see it come back to life.
@amit It’s a MINI Cooper SE, and yes, the round OLED display works perfectly as a speedometer—there are several styles available to choose from.
@Miraz Haha, exactly. Engage! 🚀
@DaveyCraney This turned out to be a performance degradation introduced in Safari 18 on iOS. Hopefully, Apple or the WebKit team will fix that in the future. For now, I’ve implemented a workaround in version 1.0.2. Navigate to the plug-ins page and tap the upgrade button, and you should be all set after Micro.blog rebuilds your blog.
@DaveyCraney No, but wow, that’s interesting and definitely a bug introduced in Safari 18 on iOS. It works fine on macOS, though. I’ve created an issue on GitHub and will look into this. Thanks for the report. 🥰
@jarrod My experimental feed is just Micro.blog’s original feed sprinkled with the conversation links. To avoid gaps, it’s up to Reeder to check the feed more frequently. Or, as @manton already pointed out, they could page back in history to fill gaps. At least in theory, but I see no next_url property in the feed. Does the timeline feed support pagination, Manton?
@AndyNicolaides In Photos on macOS, you can create a Smart Album filtered by a specific lens.
@Gabz 🥰
@heyloura Looking good!
@benbrown Me too!
@malveus Men va pinsamt, ingen vill ju tuta knasigt.
@SimonWoods The HTML Standard does not leave much room for interpretation when it comes to the alt attribute:
> A corollary to this is that the alt attribute’s value should never contain text that could be considered the image’s caption, title, or legend. It is supposed to contain replacement text that could be used by users instead of the image; it is not meant to supplement the image. The title attribute can be used for supplemental information.
@juha 🤩
@paulw There were a few things that bugged me, and maybe it tries a bit too hard to be like the first movie. But it was atmospheric, intense, and I enjoyed the ride.
@ctietze Could it be indexed as “plush toy” maybe? 😊
@dave Twitter-to-ActivityPub bridges, like bird.makeup, already exist, so the quickest way to get tweets on the Micro.blog timeline might be for @manton to ensure these bridges work with Micro.blog. For example, here’s Timothy Snyder’s Twitter profile on Micro.blog via bird.makeup. The profile shows up, but no posts are appearing. I’ve tried following Twitter accounts this way before, @manton, but the posts never fetch, so there might be a compatibility issue.
It would be really neat to have this working on Micro.blog. I’m currently following Twitter people via RSS, which I’m happy with, but it can be a bit overwhelming to see countless unread tweets when I open NetNewsWire. 😅
